Biographical Info
I am an ESL Social Studies teacher, author, and public historian. My students are immigrants and refugees in danger of aging-out of traditional high school. We are piloting a program for these students called Accelerate to Graduate (A2G). The practices of cross-curricular teaching, project-based teaching, and collaborations with active community partners provide the foundation. I served as a Coach for the 2019 Aspen Challenge Louisville team, FUTURUM. I was selected as the 2018 Kentucky Social Studies Teacher of the Year. I have published books, chapters and peer-reviewed articles on education, and the history of people and places in Kentucky and the region.
